More Carrigroe Cattle Move To Lemonfield Angus

December saw the arrival of 2 new Carrigroe in calf heifers to Lemonfield Angus Herd.

Carrigroe S Dawn and Carrigroe S Dakota were acquired a week apart at the Irish Angus Cattle Society Sales. Kilmallock ( Munster Branch) & Carrick On Shannon ( Elite Sale). Both heifers are in calf to Fellfort Perry bred by Ben and Elaine Ryall of the Fellfort Herd in Watergrasshill.

S Dakota is from the consistent Dakota Cow Family with excellent performance figures backing up here powerful pedigree.

Her full sister sold at the Elite Sale in 2017 for €4750. Her grand dam was the 2nd highest Angus cow in Ireland on the ICBF terminal index.

S Dawn is from one of the flagship cow families in the Carrigroe herd. The Dawn Family has produced some of the best Angus at Carrigroe. The now famous AI sire Carrigroe Nationwide is from this family. There is well established feed conversion rates from trial data, so Dawn will do well on the Low Carbon Beef, grass based system here in Lemonfield Angus Herd Limerick.

Carrigroe cattle have had a positive influence on the Lemonfield Angus Herd, having established our Lemonfield Lady Jane cow family line originating with Carrigroe Jane bought at the Irish Angus Elite Sale in 2014 and also having had a hugely influential stock bull Carrigroe Magic 1423ET also sourced from John Applebe two become our senior stock bull in Lemonfield Angus herd for a number of years.
